Accounts Payable Clerk

Job Description

Our client, a well-established and growing organization in the Sarasota area, is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable (AP) Clerk for a temp-to-hire opportunity. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with numbers, and takes pride in accuracy and efficiency.

The AP Clerk will be responsible for managing invoice processing, vendor communications, and supporting the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate payments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process high-volume invoices accurately and in a timely manner
  • Review, code, and enter invoices into the accounting system
  • Match purchase orders, invoices, and receipts (3-way match)
  • Prepare and process weekly check runs, ACH, and wire payments
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain and update vendor files and W-9 documentation
  • Respond to vendor inquiries professionally and promptly
  • Assist with month-end closing activities related to accounts payable
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of Accounts Payable experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong data entry skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with high-volume invoice processing
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • Prior experience in a mid-size or growing organization
